nighttime nature at good manor~

i admit these pictures arent the best...but i couldnt find my camera..but anyway the story is i was letting the dogs out before we went to bed late last night and i am standing on the patio and i see the spider, a little one a little bigger than the thumbnail and then crap! i see her HUGE web that goes from the drain gutter on the top of the screened patio to the back of the wicker chair...
i could not believe it! so i ran in and grabbed the camera and snapped away
the web was beautiful......i wonder how long it took her to spin?
i am hoping you can see it..the second picture is the closeup....but sadly it is gone i am sure the torrential rain we had today blew it away, but i am so happy to have the pictures......
whats going on where you live???

That is a HUGE web, and I missed it. Maybe your writer spider or one of her offspring will be back this year to inhabit a small corner of good manor.

Great pic - I love spider webs - they are fascinating!! And it's always good to have spotted them - before you walk into them and get them stuck on your face in in your hair!!! LOL

beautiful! We are getting the torrential rains too (unfortunately, they are filling up my basement with an unwanted indoor pool)What happened to the hot dry summers of yesteryear? I'm traveling to Phoenix next week to get a dose of some much needed heat.

we call those zipper spiders here. and they usually don't get busy with their webs until later in august. but i've had them blocking my path already, too. when we would walk our dog in the evening we would have to make tomahawks with our hands to clear a path down the sidewalk.

I like spider webs -smile-, think they are beautiful and works of God in the flesh. "Your" web is lovely.

i love a good web! we have a spider who has a web right at the top of the ramp, right where we pass under it all the time. we are constantly walking into it, getting in our face, hair. i feel bad, but we forget it's there! and then he just respins it again. got my starbucks card, thank you!
